HCC hasn't paused to make a video of itself for some time, but much of our work still resembles the tenant organizing and legal services we provided when we made this video in the early 1990s. We still organize tenants to improve conditions in their buildings and protect their affordable rents, we still strengthen tenants' hands with legal advice and court representation, and we still provide weatherization assistance and technical training classes to make buildings energy efficient and help tenants save money.
Of course, HCC has grown significantly since this video was made: we now represent tenants from 34th Street up to 72nd Street, we have more than twice as many lawyers and twice as many organizers, and we have added community organizing around broader neighborhood issues. But our overarching mission — helping low-income tenants win safe, decent and affordable housing — remains largely the same as when this video was made.
In order to transfer it to the web site, we have split the video into three pieces. Please click below to begin your video journey though HCC history.
